The first Brazilian slab export deal for shipment in July was closed at $815/mt, FOB conditions, roughly in line with expectations by producers of closing deals at $820/mt.

Such negotiations have started with $845/mt FOB as the target for slab producers, the same price as the last deal closed for June shipment, but a scenario of low margins between HRC and slabs prices has hindered exporters from reaching deals at such prices.

In April, Brazil exported 505,200 mt of slab, in average at $710/mt, against 602,900 mt at $668/mt in March.

According to preliminary numbers, in May, the exports of slabs shipped during the first two weeks of the month were in average priced at $830/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in March.
