Are US HDG prices about to firm further?

Last week, US Steel and ArcelorMittal USA (AMUSA) announced their third flat rolled steel price increase. Today, Nucor echoed the increase announcements and told customers that they too, would be raising prices on all new flat rolled steel orders by a minimum of $1.50 cwt. ($33/mt or $30/nt), effective immediately.

However, week-over-week pricing remains stable, as many in the US have taken this week off to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Whether the increase will begin to gain traction will not be known until people return to work next week.
