Unemployment average in the EU
The average unemployment rate in the 15 member states of the European Union (EU) is recorded as 8.1% as of end May 2003.
As per the information obtained from Eurostat, the EU's unemployment rates on some of the countries are; 3.8% in
Luxembourg, 3.9% in
Netherlands, 4.3% in
Austria, 4.6% in
Ireland, 5.2% in
Denmark, 5.4% in
Sweden, 7.5% in
Portugal, 7.9% in
Belgium, 8.7% in
Italy, 9% in
Finland, 9.1% in
France, 9.4% in
Germany and 11.3% in
Spain.
According to the information provided by the EU's statistics institution Eurostat, the umployment rate for the same period is recorded as 6.2% in the US and 5.4% in
Japan.
