Indian steel exports decline by 35%

According to the statement released by Indian Steel Association (ISA), hot rolled coil exports of Indian steel producers in the first half of current fiscal have decreased by 35% to 6.4 million tons against the figure recorded in the first half of previous fiscal year. The figure reflects exports of ISA members, which include Essar Steel, Jindal and Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL). In the subject period, domestic sales increased by 9% to 3.5 million tons against 3.2 million tons recorded in April-September 2003 period. Again in the same period, production increased by 4% to 6.6 million tons against 6.3 million tons recorded in the first half of 2003.
