Exports from Asia to the US not affected by tsunami

The shipments of goods from tsunami-ravaged Asian countries to the US have continued on the track because most part of big manufacturing centers was not damaged. On the other hand, certain economists pointed out that a break out of disease in the region could create further pressure on economies in the Asian countries and possibly begin to affect exports. The disaster is expected to have a little effect on the US economy. However, tourism in the region, particularly in Thailand and Sri Lanka, is expected to be hard hit. Many companies in the US depend on factories in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Thailand and other countries in the region to produce clothing, home textiles and wood furniture. However, big manufacturing centers were not impacted by the tsunami. In addition, ports in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore are operating normally. In India, some shipments from the port of Chennai have been rerouted to Mumbai, Bombay.
