Zamil Group to build pipe plant at Dammam

Saudi Arabia-based Zamil Group has signed a definitive agreement with Brandt Engineered Products Limited of Canada for the development of a new seamless pipes processing facility in the second industrial city at Dammam.

The plant in question will process seamless pipes in a size range from 4.5 through 13.375 inches in diameter. The project's construction is expected to start in early 2008. The plant, which is due to commence production operations in 2009, will have an initial capacity of 170,000 tons per annum of API (American Petroleum Institute) specification pipes and premium joint casing.

According to the press release issued by Zamil Group, the investment for the plant is anticipated to reach SAR 650 million ($174.29 million).

Dr. Fadi Jardali, Zamil Group's Project Director, stated, "The plant will commence operations in 2009 aiming at reaching full capacity over a short period of time. We plan to add new lines in the near future to cover a broader size range."
