Jiangxi Province-based Chinese steel producer Xinyu Iron and Steel Co., Ltd (Xinye Steel) has announced that it has successfully commissioned a cold rolled non-grain-oriented silicon steel (CRNGO) production line as part of the Zhongye Nanfang Cold Rolled Silicon Steel project in which Xinye Steel and Wuhan, Hubei-based Zhongye Nanfang Engineering Technology Company are joint investors.
The Zhongye Nanfang Cold Rolled Silicon Steel project is being carried out in three stages at a total estimated investment cost of RMB 4 billion ($600 million). The production line in question, with an annual production capacity of 400,000 mt, has been constructed in the first stage. Another CRNGO production line is planned to be launched at the beginning of 2011 in the second stage of the project, with an annual capacity of 150,000 mt. The third stage production line, also for CRNGO, will have an annual capacity of 80,000 mt, though a commissioning date for this line has not yet been issued.
