Work resumes at three Mechel plants in Romania

Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steelmaking companies, has announced that work has resumed at its Ductil Steel Buzau and Mechel Campia Turzii plants, while smelting has recommenced at its Ductil Steel Otelu Rosui plant, all located in Romania.

Production was temporarily halted at Ductil Steel Buzau, Mechel Campia Turziii, Ductil Steel Otelu Rosu and Mechel Targoviste due to supply problems related to severe snowstorms last week.

While three out of the four Mechel plants are again operating as normal, operations at the Mechel Targoviste plant are due to be relaunched on February 27. The recent interruptions will not affect Mechel's steel production plans in Romania for the current year.
