On December 5, Hubei Province-based Wuhan Iron & Steel Corporation (WISCO) announced its ex-factory prices for Q1 2008. The details are as follows:
1. HR coils
Prices increased RMB 400/mt ($54/mt), with an additional hike of RMB 100/mt ($14/mt) for material of thickness >1500 mm. After the change, the price of 2.75 mm Q235 is at RMB 4,490/mt ($608/mt), while that of 5.5 mm Q235 is at RMB 4,340/mt ($587/mt).
2. CR coils
Prices of common carbon steel rose by RMB 380/mt ($51/mt), with an additional increase of RMB 200/mt ($27/mt) for quality carbon material. As a result, the price of 1.0 mm Q195 cold rolled sheet is now at RMB 4,640/mt ($628/mt), while that of 1.0 mm Q195 cold rolled coils is at RMB 4,590/mt ($621/mt).
3. Galvanized coils
Prices increased RMB 500/mt ($68/mt).
4. Medium plate
Prices went up by RMB 200/mt ($27/mt). Following the adjustment, the price of Q235 14-20 mm is at RMB 4,670/mt ($632/mt).
5. Silicon steel
Non-oriented steel: prices increased RMB 200/mt ($27/mt).
Oriented steel: prices increased RMB 300-1,000/mt ($41-135/mt).
6. Wire rod
Prices rose by RMB 600/mt ($81/mt).
All the above prices exclude 17 percent VAT and are effective as of December 5, 2007. WISCO provides a certain discount to this price list for its agents.
