Votorantim Metais, the metals arm of industrial and steelmaking group Votorantim Industrial, resumed zinc output at its Cajamarquilla plant, located near Lima, Peru. Votorantim Metais uses zinc in a number of applications, including steel galvanization.

The company halted zinc output last week due to intense rainstorms.

The company resumed output at 50 percent its capacity, but should soon operate at regular capacity, as logistics conditions improve in the Pasco region, where the plant is located.

The transportation of minerals in the central region of Peru was heavily affected last week during intense rainstorms, which caused damages to both railroads and roads.
