Vietnam goods exempted from Malaysian taxes

Sources report that Malaysia has provided a tax privilege to 170 Vietnamese origin goods either in the form of tax exemption or tax reduction in line with the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Integration System of Preferences (AISP). Items that will enjoy tax exemption include wood, textile, paper, farm products, steel, plastics, electric and electronic products. In 2004, $9.3 million worth of Vietnamese exports to Malaysia benefited from AISP, as compared to $2.1 million in 2002.
