Verma: India’s iron ore output above domestic need in last three years

According to the Indian government's Press Information Bureau, Indian Minister of Steel Shri Beni Prasad Verma has said that the production of iron ore in the country has exceeded domestic requirements during the last three years.
 
The minister stated that the preliminary iron ore production output for the financial year 2012-13 amounted to 136.02 million mt, while domestic steel producers' requirements for the given year were estimated at 103.4 million mt.
 
According to India's 12th Five Year Plan, domestic iron ore requirements for the financial year 2013-14 total 149.43 million mt.
