USS struggling on strike at newly acquired Sartid

According to latest market reports, one of the largest American steel producers US Steel Corp. (USS) is struggling with strike issue over wages at Sartid in Serbia. Around 10'000 workers at the state owned steel mill Sartid, request the hourly wage to grow up by 66.7% to 55 Dinars. Currently, average monthly wage at Sartid is 9'205 Dinars ($159). Trade unions of Sartid, which was taken over together with its six subsidiaries against $23 million last month by USS, report that company's stance towards the strike will relatively effect the success of USS' plan to lift production up to 2.2 million tons in 2005. A 50% increase bringing production level to 70'000 tons is already achieved just in one month.
