US subsidiaries of EU-based Thyssenkrupp and Voestalpine have recently applied for exemption to the 25 percent import steel tariff under Section 232, especially, due to the sunset temporary exclusion on the EU set to expire on June 1.

Thyssenkrupp Presta Danville LLC applied for assembled camshaft tubes while US subsidiaries of Voestalpine applied for a variety of imported steel selections through the past month. A spokesperson for Voestalpine confirmed that no application by the company has been approved to date.
