US steel production for the week ended June 18

US steelmakers again saw their weekly and year-on-year outputs decline according to the American Iron and Steel Institute. For the week ended June 18, domestic steel producers produced 1.8 million net tons a drop of 3.3% from the week ended June 11 and whopping 16.5% year-on-year drop from 2.151 million net tons. The Pittsburgh/Youngstown, Ohio district saw 235'000 net tons for a week-to-week drop of 4000 net tons. Overall nationwide capacity utilization stood at about 87.7%, a nearly 7% decline from the previous year's 94% capacity utilization.
