US steel piling imports up 35 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of steel piling totaled 12,466 mt in April 2019, up 35.0 percent from March and up a substantial 410.1 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, steel piling imports totaled $10.1 million in April 2018, compared to $8.2 million in the previous month and $1.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most steel piling from Luxembourg in April, with 6,340 mt, compared to 8,502 mt in March and 535 mt in April 2018. Other top sources of imported steel piling in April include China, with 6,002 mt.
