US rebar exports drop 16.3 percent in February

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of rebar totaled 31,690 mt in February 2018, down 16.3 percent from January and down 124.1 percent from February 2017 levels. By value, rebar exports totaled $21.3 million in February, compared to $24.4 million in the previous month and $8.2 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most rebar to Canada in February with 26,233 mt, compared to 27,017 mt in January and 12,120 mt in February 2017. Other top destinations included Dominican Republic, with 3,660 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US rebar exports in February.
