According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of rebar totaled 8,292 mt in May 2019, down 4.2 percent from April and down 69.0 percent from May 2018 levels. By value, rebar exports totaled $6.4 million in May, compared to $6.6 million in the previous month and $18.5 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most rebar to Canada in May with 5,263 mt, compared to 4,468 mt in April and 22,754 mt in May 2018. Other destinations include Mexico, with 1,770 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US export rebar in May.
