US iron and steel scrap exports rise 5.8 percent in November

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,629,648 mt in November, a 5.8 percent increase month-on-month and a 44.0 percent increase year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in November with 400,512 mt, which increased 35.7 percent month-on-month and increased 39.9 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in November include: Mexico, with 138,473 mt; Taiwan, with 124,246 mt; Kuwait, with 122,330 mt; and Korea, with 87,825 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $525.8 million in November, a 0.1 percent increase compared to October and a 61.7 percent increase compared to November 2016.
