According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,121,877 mt in September, a 36 percent decrease month-on-month and a 4.7 percent decrease year-on-year.
Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in September with 268,925 mt, which is down 18.9 percent month-on-month and down 42.7 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in September include: Mexico, with 188,699 mt; Taiwan, with 126,299 mt; Korea, with 121,102 mt; and China, with 109,344 mt.
In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $299.4 million in September, a 14.4 percent decrease compared to August and an 8.5 percent increase compared to September 2015.
