US iron and steel scrap exports fall 21 percent in October

US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 923,149 mt in October, down 21 percent from the 1,167,874 mt exported in September, and down 31 percent from the 1,336,660 mt exported in October 2014.

Turkey was the top destination for US steel scrap exports in October, with a total of 256,984 mt. However, the total reflects a 44 percent drop from September’s total of 456,909 mt and a 39 percent decline from October 2014’s total of 419,842 mt.

Other top destinations include: India, with 185,221 mt; Mexico, with 132,038 mt; Korea, with 69,286 mt; Taiwan, with 63,053 mt; and China, with 48,968 mt.
