On Wednesday, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) released its preliminary determination in the antidumping investigation of steel wire garment hangers from China. The preliminary margins determined by the DOC are as follows:
For the two mandatory questionnaire respondents selected by the DOC;
- Shanghai Wells Hanger Co. Ltd: 33.85 percent
- Shaoxing Metal Companies: 164.54 percent
For the 13 Separate Rate Applicants (companies that could show the DOC they are not owned or controlled by the Chinese government): 83.98 percent
"China-wide" rate (all other Chinese producers and exporters of garment hangers): 221.05 percent
The DOC will conduct on-site audits of the mandatory respondents to verify the accuracy of their responses to the DOC's questionnaires.
The DOC will make its final dumping determination by June 2 if there are no extensions. If the investigation is extended, then the deadline for the DOC's final detemination will be July 31.
