The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced its partial rescission of the countervailing duty (CVD) administrative review on certain hot rolled carbon steel flat products from India.
On December 31, 2008, US Steel Corporation (US Steel) requested the DOC to conduct an administrative review of Essar Steel Limited (Essar), Ispat Industries Limited (Ispat), JSW Steel Limited (JSW) and Tata Steel Limited (Tata).
On February 2, 2009, the DOC initiated an administrative review of the countervailing duty order on certain hot rolled carbon steel flat products from India covering the period January 1, 2008, through December 31, 2008.
On May 4, 2009, US Steel submitted a timely request for withdrawal. No other party has requested administrative reviews of Essar, Ispat, and JSW.
Therefore, the DOC has decided to rescind, in part, this review of the CVD order of certain hot rolled carbon steel flat products from India with regard to Essar, Ispat, and JSW, and to continue the review with respect to Tata.
