The US Consumer Confidence Index (CCI), which is based on consumers' perceptions of current business and employment conditions, as well as their expectations for six months forward regarding business conditions, employment, and income, declined slightly in the December report to 122.1 compared to a revised 128.6 in November and 126.2 in October.

According to Econoday, the initial CCI consensus in November for December was 128. According to the Conference Board, which performs the survey, the small decline from November was attributed to a slight erosion in expectations about business conditions and job availability. Yet, December 2017 is the strongest December on record since 2000.
