According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold finished bar totaled 15,833 mt in August 2019, up 10.8 percent from July and down 24.3 percent from August 2018 levels. By value, cold finished bar imports totaled $21.5 million in August 2019, compared to $16.1 million in the previous month and $20.9 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most cold finished bar from Italy in August, with 4,761 mt, compared to 1,873 mt in July and 1,796 mt in August 2018. Other top sources of imported cold finished bar in August include Germany, with 2,971 mt; China, with 1,763 mt; Canada, with 1,690 mt; and Spain, with 1,191 mt.
