At the end of April, Ukrainian Association of Ferrous Metallurgy has announced that the unutilized part of the quota allocated to Ukrainian steel products by the EU for year 2005 will be added to the total quota for the current year. According to this decision, which was agreed with European Commission (EC), Ukrainian producers have a chance to supply additional 60,000 tons of steel products this year. The distribution of the transferred quota is as follows: SA1 (HR coil) - 15,000 tons; SA2 (heavy plates) - 6,945 tons, SA3 (other flat rolled products) – 9,700 tons, SB1 (beam) - 1,889 tons; SB2 (wire rod) - 7,463 tons, and SB3 (other long products) – 18,899 tons.
