Ukraine may cancel VAT on ferrous scrap operations

The Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine has proposed to the country's parliament (Verkhovna Rada) the cancellation of value added tax (VAT) on operations with ferrous scrap for 2009.

The VAT on ferrous scrap was previously canceled in 2007-2008, causing a decrease in corruption practices in all branches of the scrap industry and also making scrap export activity less attractive.
