Ukraine lowers recommended scrap price

Major Ukrainian metallurgical companies agreed last week that the recommended price for scrap delivers during the November-December period should be UAH 930/mt ($184). While the price guideline is not binding, the agreement stipulates that the scrap collectors should undertake an obligation to meet the needs of the domestic metal combines. Ukraine's Ministry of Industrial Policy believes that the agreement will keep scrap prices at lower levels at a time when winter conditions have a negative impact on scrap collection and shipment. In a previous agreement signed in October, the recommended price for scrap deliveries was UAH 950/mt ($188).
