The home appliance market in Turkey saw 19.2 percent year-on-year growth in 2011, reaching 6 million units for the first time, according to the data released by the Turkish Home Appliance Industrialists Association (BESD). The significant growth rate, especially in the second half of the year, was partly due to rising household numbers on the back of the growing construction sector in Turkey.

According to the BESD's report, in 2011 overall home appliance sales in western Europe increased by about 0.5 percent year on year. Regarding five major markets constituting 80 percent of the overall western Europe market, Italy and Spain recorded year-on-year decreases, while Germany, France and the UK recorded year-on-year increases. In 2011, Russian home appliance sales increased by approximately 20 percent, while Poland, Ukraine and Romania also showed growth, all compared to 2010.
