According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in October this year Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 80,396 metric tons, up 10.2 percent month on month, increasing for the third month in a row on month-on-month basis, but down 9.7 percent compared to October 2011. In October this year, the revenue generated by Turkey's wire rod exports totaled $50 million, decreasing by 23.1 percent year on year.
In the first 10 months of the year, Turkey's wire rod exports amounted to 781,587 metric tons, decreasing by 16.3 percent compared to the same period of 2011, while the total revenue from these exports amounted to $505 million, decreasing by 21.3 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
In October, Turkey's wire exports to the Middle East fell for the second month in a row on month-on-month basis, amounting to 13,075 mt, decreasing by 34.5 percent compared to September and down 20 percent on year-on-year basis. The country's wire exports to the Middle East had reached historically high levels in the second and third quarters of this year. On the other hand, Turkey's wire rod exports to the US, Brazil and Israel, which were the three largest export destinations for Turkish wire rods in January-September this year, fell significantly in October, while Turkish wire rod exporters increased their exports to African countries in the given month.
