In September this year, Turkey's scrap import volume increased by 39.1 percent year on year to 1.71 million metric tons and was up 14.8 percent compared to August, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), The value of these imports totaled $507.21 million, up 19.2 percent year on year and increasing by 12.6 percent month on month.
In the January- September period, Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 14.04 million mt, down 11.1 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 20.6 percent to $4.39 billion, both year on year,
In the given period, Turkey imported 2,681,622 mt of scrap from the US, down 3.62 percent year on year, with the US ranking as Turkey's leading scrap import source, ahead of the Netherlands which supplied 1,841,108 mt in the given period, down 1.44 year on year,
