Turkey's Cairo embassy has stated that Turkish firm Limak has won a tender for renovation at Cairo Airport - the biggest tender carried out in Egypt after the public unrest which started in the country on January 25 - with a bid of $387 million in March.

The tender includes increasing the annual passenger capacity of Terminal 3 of Cairo Airport from 3.5 million to 7.5 million, expanding the runways for A380 airplanes and building additional facilities.

The construction is scheduled to begin in January 31, 2012 and will be completed in three years.

The last day to submit the letter of guarantee for the project funded by the World Bank is August 31, 2011.
