Turkey’s rebar exports decrease by 4.7 percent in January-May

In May this year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 301,370 metric tons, down 22.8 percent compared to April and decreasing by 56.9 percent year on year, according to the preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $125.11 million, decreasing by 26.8 percent compared to April and down 62.8 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of this year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 2.24 million metric tons, down 4.7 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these exports totaled $959.76 million, decreasing by 14.1 percent compared to the same period of 2019.

In the given period, Turkey's largest rebar export destination was Yemen which received 441,820 metric tons, down 7.85 percent year on year. Yemen was followed by Israel with 320,474 metric tons and the US with 225,141 metric tons.
