In November, Turkey's wire rod exports dropped in volume and in revenue on a month-on-month basis following a five-month rising trend, while the average export price surged slightly.
According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in November Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 115,140 metric tons, increasing by 15.23 percent year on year, but down 31.76 percent over October this year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $57.78 million, rising by eight percent compared to the same month of the previous year and down 31.37 percent month on month.
In November, the average export price of Turkish wire rod amounted to $502/mt, up $3/mt or 0.6 percent from October levels, but indicating a decrease of $51/mt or 9.2 percent compared to November 2008.
On the other hand, in the January-November period of the current year Turkey's wire rod exports surged 22.15 percent year on year to 1.07 million mt, totaling a value of $504.8 million, down 32.02 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
