In July this year,
Turkey's total steel product exports amounted to 1.6 million metric tons, rising 11.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, with a total revenue of $1.26 billion, up 1.9 percent over July 2011, according to the
Turkey's Steel Exporters' Association (CIB).
The
Middle East was
Turkey's largest destination for steel exports in July this year, receiving 834,000 metric tons, while it was followed by
non-EU countries with 127,000 mt, EU countries with 123,000 mt,
North America with 115,000 mt and Latin America with 114,000 mt. The most exported steel product in terms of volume was
rebar amounting to 678,000 mt, followed by 285,000 mt of steel
billet, 155,000 mt of section steel, 149,000 mt of steel
pipe and 77,000 mt of
wire rod in the month in question.
Meanwhile, in the first seven months of the current year
Turkey's total steel product exports amounted to 11.7 million metric tons, up nine percent compared to the same period last year. The revenue generated by these exports in January-July this year totaled $9.3 billion, increasing by 4.2 percent year on year.
In the first seven months of the current year, the
Middle East was
Turkey's largest destination for steel exports, receiving 5.1 million metric tons. In the given period,
Turkey's steel product exports to the EU amounted to 1.25 million mt, while North
Africa imported 1.2 million mt mt of steel products from
Turkey.
Compared to the same period last year, the largest steel export increases in January-July this year were recorded in exports to
non-EU countries,
North America,
West Africa, Latin America, and central, eastern and southern
Africa. In the first seven months, exports of
rebar, which ranks first among the country's exported steel products in terms of volume, amounted to 5.32 million mt, while
Turkey exported 1.67 million mt of steel
billet, 1.06 million mt of steel section, 1.05 million mt of steel
pipe and 683,000 mt of
wire rod in the period in question.
