According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in September this year Turkey's iron and steel exports totaled $913.68 million, increasing by 39.8 percent year on year and up eight percent from August, while exports of articles of iron or steel rose by 29.4 percent compared to September 2010 and were up 0.5 percent month on month, amounting to $489.88 million.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of 2011 the country's iron and steel exports stood at $8.4 billion, while its exports of articles of iron or steel amounted to $4.25 billion, increasing by 35.9 percent and up 22.3 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
