According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in October this year Turkey's iron and steel exports totaled $936.9 million, decreasing by 2.5 percent year on year but up 2.5 percent from September. Iron and steel ranked third among the products with the highest export value of the country in October, while motor vehicles had the highest export value.
Meanwhile, exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked eight among the products with the highest export value, rose by 12.9 percent compared to October 2010 and were up 8.5 percent month on month, amounting to $531.6 million.
In the first 10 months of 2011, the country's iron and steel exports stood at $9.3 billion, while its exports of articles of iron or steel amounted to $4.8 billion, increasing by 30.7 percent and up 21.1 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
