Turkey’s steel bar exports up 2.82 percent in September over August

According to the data provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in September Turkey's total steel bar exports, including rebar, amounted to 560,000 metric tons, decreasing by 37.24 percent year on year and up by 2.82 percent month on month. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totalled $268.3 million, declining by 75.1 percent compared to September 2008, and up 7.18 percent month on month.

In September, the average export price of Turkish steel bar amounted to $479.5/mt, up $19.5/mt or 4.23 percent from August levels, but down $730/mt or 60.33 percent from $1,209/mt in September last year.

On the other hand, in the first nine months of this year, Turkey's steel bar exports slid 15.91 percent year on year to 7.26 million mt, totalling a value of $3.28 billion, down 59.64 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
