Turkey’s scrap imports up 11.9 percent in Q1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year Turkey's steel scrap imports fell by 21.9 percent compared to February and were up 13.3 percent compared to the same month of 2011, amounting to 1.68 million metric tons.

According to the data released by TUIK, in March the average price of Turkey's steel scrap imports stood at $450/mt, remaining stable compared to the previous month and down $20/mt compared to March 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2012 Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 5.34 million mt, increasing 11.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
