Turkish steelmaker Mescier Demir Celik (Mescier), switched to real production in its new 40 million $ rolling mill in Bartın industrial zone. In the new rolling mill test production has been conducted primarily for rebar and then for flat bars. Adjusting its production according to the received orders, Mescier focuses currently on production of flat bars.

Mescier's year 2010 production target for its rolling mill in Karabuk which has been commissioned in 1990 is 150,000 metric tons while the company plans to produce 300-350,000 metric tons in its new rolling mill in Bartın. Thus the company plans to achieve a total production of 450-500,000 metric tons in 2010. The total annual production capacity of the company is expected to reach 600,000 metric tons, after the new rolling mill reaches its full capacity.

Aiming both domestic and export markets for its sales, Mescier states that it continues modernization works and to increase its capacity in line with advancing technology and market demand.
