In 2009, Turkey's iron and steel exports declined 43.4 percent compared to 2008, while a year-on-year decrease of 4.41 percent in the country's iron and steel exports was registered in December.
According to the statistics released on January 4 by the Turkish Exporters' Association, Turkey's ferrous and non-ferrous metal exports in December last year amounted to a value of $443.74 million, increasing by 43.26 percent year on year and up 0.25 percent over November, while the country's iron and steel exports declined 4.41 percent year on year and were down 6.95 percent month on month, totaling $849.31 million.
Meanwhile, in January-December 2009, Turkey's ferrous and non-ferrous metal exports slid 27.29 percent year on year to $4.49 billion while the country's iron and steel exports totaled $11.03 billion, decreasing by 43.4 percent.
