Turkey's HRC imports rise sharply in January-October

In October this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports decreased by 27.8 percent year on year to 244,477 metric tons, up 5.6 percent compared to September, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $101 million, rising by 6.3 percent month on month and down 17.4 percent year on year.


 
In the first ten months of the current year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 3.1 million mt, rising by 142.3 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 91.3 percent to $1.12 billion, both compared to the same period of the previous year.
 
In the January-October period of this year, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 1,310,497 mt, up 329.8 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, followed by Ukraine which shipped 276,773 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
