According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in October this year Turkey's total hot rolled coil exports amounted to 75,897 metric tons, almost double compared to the previous month and up 14.5 percent compared to October 2011. October witnessed the third consecutive month of month-on-month increase in Turkey's hot rolled coil exports.
Meanwhile, Turkey's hot rolled plate exports, which have been falling slightly on month-on-month basis since May this year, amounted to 10,377 mt in October, rising by 56.3 percent compared to September, while they fell by 40 percent year on year. In October, hot rolled sheet exports from Turkey totaled 13,131 mt, up 69.3 percent compared to the previous month and down 16.2 percent compared to the same month of 2011.
Turkey's hot rolled coil exports in the first 10 months of the current year totaled 515,348 mt, decreasing by 62.1 percent, while its hot rolled plate exports rose 55 percent to 167,907 mt, both compared to the same period of 2011. On the other hand, Turkey increased its hot rolled sheet exports by 5.9 percent in the first 10 months of the year, to 100,452 mt.
Turkish HR coil exports to the European Union in the first 10 months of the year, amounted to 363,886 mt, decreasing by 68.7 year on year. Meanwhile, in October this year the European Union's hot rolled coil imports from Turkey rose by 80.2 percent month on month and were up 61.9 percent compared to the same month of 2011, amounting to 40,477 mt.
