On the other hand, in the first half of 2011, Turkey's crude steel output amounted to 16.4 million mt, increasing by 21.3 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
In the first half of this year, Turkey's steel billet output moved up by 11.6 percent to 11.57 million mt, and its slab output climbed by 53.2 percent to 4.84 million mt, both on year-on-year basis. Due to the steep increase in the country's slab output, the share of steel billet in total crude steel production declined from 76.7 percent to 70.5 percent, while the share of slab rose by 23.3 percent to 29.5 percent, both compared to H1 2010.
