According to a statement released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (DCUD), in September this year Turkey's crude steel production rose by 16.9 percent year on year and 7.1 percent month on month, reaching 3 million mt, which constitutes an all-time historical high. In September, steel production using electric arc furnaces (EAF) increased by 15.2 percent, while production via blast furnaces (BFs) rose by 21.4 percent, both compared to September 2010.

On the other hand, in the first nine months of 2011, Turkey's crude steel output amounted to 25.01 million mt, increasing by 18.9 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

In the first nine months of this year, Turkey's steel billet output moved up by 12 percent to 17.8 million mt, and its slab output climbed by 40 percent to 7.2 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
