On the other hand, in the first 10 months of 2011, Turkey's crude steel output amounted to 28.14 million mt, increasing by 18.1 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
In the first 10 months of this year, Turkey's steel billet output moved up by 11.2 percent to 19.5 million mt, and its slab output climbed by 39.1 percent to 8.19 million mt, both on year-on-year basis. The share of steel billet in total crude steel production was 70.9 percent, while the share of slab was 29.1 percent.

Steel production using electric arc furnaces increased by 22.5 percent in January-October 2011, while production via blast furnaces rose by 7.2 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010. In January-October this year, EAFs accounted for 74 percent of total output, while BFs accounted for 26 percent.
