Turkey’s cold rolled flat steel imports down 11 percent in May from April

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year Turkey's cold rolled flat steel imports fell 11.07 percent compared to the previous month, decreasing to 39,456 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $36.66 million, decreasing by 8.34 percent, as compared to April this year.

In May, Turkey's cold rolled flat steel imports from Russia amounted to 13,735 metric tons, decreasing by 39.36 percent month on month and accounted for approximately 35 percent of the country's total cold rolled flat steel imports. Turkey's second biggest source of cold rolled flat steel imports in May was Romania with 13,027 metric tons, increasing by 166.29 percent compared to April this year. 


Meanwhile, in the January-May period of this year, Turkey's cold rolled flat steel imports amounted to 226,335 metric tons decreasing 23.59 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from Russia amounted 97,054 metric tons and cold rolled flat steel imports from Romania amounted to 37,750 metric tons, decreasing respectively by 12.47 percent and 33.75 percent both compared to the same period last year.
