Turkey’s billet imports down 46.7 percent in Jan-Nov

In November last year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 57.5 percent month on month to 110,442 mt, up by 4.4 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $47.71 million, up 42.2 percent month on month and down 17.9 percent year on year.

In the first 11 months of last year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 1.38 million mt, falling by 46.7 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 53 percent to $670.7 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 856,311 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 39.07 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 317,853 mt in the given period.
