According to the preliminary data released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in March this year Turkey's total steel billet exports amounted to 262,786 metric tons, increasing by 42.08 percent month on month and climbing by 123.08 percent compared to March 2009. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $125.49 million, increasing by 149.59 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and up 52.69 percent over February.
In March, the average export price of Turkish steel billet was $478/mt, up $33.19/mt or 7.47 percent from February levels, and indicating an increase of $51/mt or 12 percent compared to March 2009.

On the other hand, in the first quarter of 2010, Turkey's steel billet exports rose by 120.54 percent year on year to 659,952 mt, totaling a value of $299.49 million, up 142.69 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
