In April, Turkey's steel billet exports rose for the second straight month and the average export price reached $528/mt.
According to the preliminary data released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in April this year Turkey's total steel billet exports amounted to 294,221 metric tons, increasing by 11.96 percent month on month and climbing by 4.44 times compared to April 2009. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $155.21 million, increasing by 7.11 times compared to the same month of the previous year, and up 23.68 percent over March.
In April, the average export price of Turkish steel billet was $528/mt, up $50/mt or 10.46 percent from March levels, and indicating an increase of $198/mt or 60.14 percent compared to April 2009.

On the other hand, in the first four months of 2010, Turkey's steel billet exports rocketed by 161 percent year on year to 954,173 mt, totaling a value of $454.69 million, up 213.04 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
